A poster presentation describing the main objectives and methodology of SHIELD project has been presented at the 5th International Symposium on Eastern Mediterranean Geology (5th ISEMG) that was held in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 14-17 April 2004.

The 5th ISEMG was a highly successful meeting, which brought together more than 750 earth scientists from more than 40 countries around the globe. The proceedings, either in printed or CD format, have been distributed in delegates of 5th ISEMG, as well as the participants of the 10th International Conference of the Geological Society of Greece, which also took place during the same time at the same venues.

In total, more than 1500 earth scientists, including several EU project co-ordinators, had access to the poster presentation. Furthermore, in the frame of 5th ISEMG, Q-PLAN SA (SHIELD project co-ordinator) in collaboration with AUTH (SHIELD project scientific responsible) arranged seven video interviews with experts on geological hazards. Interviewed experts included:

3. Dr. Mustapha Meghraoui, France (earthquake – geological hazards)

6. Prof. Michael Fytikas, Greece (volcanic hazards) 
7. Dr. Stefano Salvi (remote sensing and natural hazards)
